the question is clear: this seems silly. why do I need a website? I'm not a creative of any sort, nor do I have a public presence, nor am I a tech worker or a small business. the answer is simple: idk bro. it looks cool. my shit is all riced out localside, the natural evolution of that is to open up to the network so that I can have more funny projects to work on. a lot of people involved with the indie web got into linux because of it, and the same should be true in reverse. it's a place to put my files and to write slop and to experiment with hosting stuff. but if that's all I'm gonna use it for, why not just like get an app or something? obsidian can do all that same stuff without having to jump through a billion hoops! the anwer, again, is simple: OBSIDIAN IS STUPID AND APPS ARE STUPID AND I HATE YOU!!!!!!!! my machine has the processing power of a speak-n-spell, I spin up 80% ram just by opening firefox and I have 60 gigs of local memory. there's no way in hell I'm installing some shit that can "revolutionize your workflow" when I could build my own version at a tenth of the resource usage with just a little extra effort. besides, restriction breeds creativity, and there's nothing more restrictive than wrenching services into compliance with 20 year old specs. it's fun, it's good for the soul, and it makes you feel like a decker. the japanese even have a word for it, it's called "wabi-sabi", it means like.. idk. the simplicity of the spirit or some shit. thats it for the post. you can click off the page now
